Jan Slezak, MD
Dr. Slezak graduated suma cum laude from Komensky University in Bratislava, Slovakia with a MD degree in 1986. He then completed a residency in General Surgery and trained in Cardiac and Vascular Surgery at the Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases at the University Hospital in Bratislava. He is board certified in surgery in Slovak Republic. After coming to the United States, Dr. Slezak completed an internship and a residency in Anesthesia at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Pain Management at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in June of 1997, after which he joined the staff of the MGH Pain Center. Dr. Slezak then joined the current practice in 1997. He sees patients in Barrington, Gilford, and Laconia. He also serves as the Medical Director and principal investigator for the Northeast Pain Research Center. Dr Slezak remains a Clinical Instructor at Mass General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He is board certified both in Pain Management and Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology. His area of specialty is interventional management of spinal pain. Dr. Slezak is also a graduate of UCLA medical acupuncture program. He uses this several thousand-year-old technique as an adjunct to treat certain medical conditions. Dr. Slezak has been extensively published in heart research, molecular biology and pain medicine.
